Dear Young Men and Young Women

We are excited to have the blessing of being FSY directors at the international session this summer.   

What a great theme we have this year - “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Living the commandments is both a physical and spiritual protection to us and a way of actively showing our love and dedication to our Heavenly Father and Saviour, Jesus Christ. 

We are also looking forward to getting to know each of you and growing together spiritually. In this wonderful environment, we will feast upon the scriptures, be strengthened, inspired and more prepared to share the light of the gospel that is within us with our friends and family. 

Please set aside time in your calendars and come prepared to learn, grow, make new friends, be a new friend and to enjoy yourselves as you take part in this exciting, faith promoting week with like minded friends and leaders.

Invited Stakes/Districts

Youth from the following stakes are specially invited to participate in this year’s FSY. These stakes provide financial support for their youth and organise coach travel to and from FSY.

In each stake/district there is one person in charge of answering inquiries of participants concerning travel schedules, itineraries etc.

 Youth from these stakes are given priority for registration. If their registration is received by 31 May 2019, they are guaranteed a place at FSY. Registrations after 31 May 2019 can only be accepted if there are still vacancies (exceptions might me made for youth of military families that moved into the invited units after 31 May 2019).

Youth from other stakes/districts not mentioned above may register and are placed on a waiting list. Should there still be still vacancies after 31 May 2019, registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis (signed incoming mail).
Their journey to FSY and back home will not be organised by FSY or any stake/district. Neither will the cost be subsidised but must be paid in full by the participant (see information below).


Activities

Each FSY participant is expected to participate in all provided activities. In between those, there is also free time, where youth may decide for themselves what they want to do. Indoor and outdoor games will be provided.

Leaving the Venue

For limitation of liability participants are not allowed to leave the premises during the FSY week. If parents want to pick up their children before the end of the week, they must make a prior arrangement with the FSY administrators.


Behaviour

Costs and payment

Costs

The total fee for FSY is 420 EUR. This covers, food, accommodation and all conference materials (manual, music CD, T-shirt, ...).

Part of this amount will be paid for by the invited stakes/districts so that the youth or their families respectively will only have to pay 90 EUR / 100 USD (this amount differs from country to country). This also applies to the youth who are not members of the Church, but attend on the invitation of their friends from those stakes/districts. Those youth are also included in the bus trips. Youth from other stakes/districts that are not specifically invited, have to organise and pay for their own journeys.

90 EUR / 100 USD for each participant of the invited stakes/districts ( 420 EUR for each participant of non-invited stakes/districts) must be paid into the ward/branch bank account BEFORE THE BISHOP/BRANCH PRESIDENT SIGNS THE REGISTRATION FORM.

Participants, including non member youth from outside invited stakes, will pay the full amount of 420 EUR. The session administrators will contact you about how to do this.

Families of invited stakes/districts who send three or more children to FSY will pay the above amount for two children only – further children are exempt from fees.

 

Cancellations

If a participant cancels their registration by 31 May 2019, no cancellation fee will be required.

For cancellations after 31 May 2019 the full fee is payable (90 Euro for participants from invited stakes, 90 EUR / 100 USD for other participants).

Other Information

Arrival and departure

Arrival:

Transportation must be arranged for the youth to arrive between 11.00am and 01.00pm on the first day of the conference ( 05 August 2019). The specially invited stakes/districts will take care of that and plan accordingly. Youth should not arrive before 11.00am.

Please contact your FSY-Contact (see list of stakes/units above) with any questions concerning travel. In specific cases, you may also write an email to the FSY-Travel-Team at travel.fsy.2019@gmail.com 


If parents take their children to FSY, they should leave the site after saying good-bye to their children at check in.


If participants travel by train, they can be picked up from the station on 05 August 2019 and taken back there on 10 August 2019. For this shuttle service we need to know the names of the travellers, their exact arrival time at the station (between 11.30 - 12.30 hrs) and their mobile number through e-mail to international@fsy-europe.org , by Saturday 10 August 2019.


Departure:

The return journey on Saturday should start between 07.30 and 09.00am. The specially invited stakes/districts will organise transportation by bus accordingly. All youth must have left by 10.00 am. For those traveling by train: Please plan your return journey for us to take you to the station between 07.30 - 10.00 am.

Packing List

Please bring the following things to FSY:

  • Holy Scriptures in paper form (as electronic devices will not be permitted during FSY activities)
  • Highlighters, Pens, Notebook
  • Valid health insurance information and medications, if needed
  • If needed: valid papers for legal entry/stay into/in Germany (Visa for Participants from Non-EU countries)
  • Pamphlets: "For the strength of youth" and "Personal Progress"/"Duty to God"
  • A Towel
  • Bedding: A fitted sheet, a pillow case and a duvet cover. If you would like to bring a sleeping bag instead, you will still need to bring a fitted sheet and a pillow case as well. Instead of bringing your own, you may also rent bedding for 5,50 € at the venue. --> BEDDING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOUTH TRAVELING BY PLANE.
  • Hygiene products (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
  • Slippers for inside the accommodation
  • Sunday attire (if possible white, collared shirt for young men)
  • Leisure wear
  • Appropriate clothing for formal dance
  • Sunscreen and Insect-Repellent
  • Enough food for the trip until our first dinner together on Monday night 


Please do not bring:

    • Any use of a mobile phone or MP3-player during an FSY activity is prohibited. If you feel you might have a hard time not using them, we advise you to leave them at home altogether. If you need to bring them for your journey however, there will be a safe provided, where valuables can be locked away during the week.
    • Portable stereo devices, DVD/CD-players, gameboys or similar things, bicycles, drones, roller skates or any kind of skateboards are not allowed. Outdoor games and sports equipment will be provided for your free time during the FSY-Week.
Group Allocation

Usually, each participant will be allocated to a group of 10-12 youth their own age:

  • 14-15-year-olds (age on first day of conference)
  • 16-18-year-olds (age on first day of conference)


Groups at FSY consist of one age group only. The allocation is automatic according to your birth date. As FSY International hosts many different languages, we might not divide the youth into groups according the above mentioned age-group, but into languages instead.


If you want to be in the same group with a friend, you may name one person with your registration on the internet. That person needs to be

  • the same gender
  • the same age
  • you must mutually mention each other with your registration.

Therefore please co-ordinate this before you register.

This arrangement is non-committal as the groups will be combined from all participating stakes/districts. However, we will try to do our best to accommodate your wishes.

Please consider the allocation of groups and rooms as an opportunity to meet new people. Such friendships may become a lifelong enrichment.

Information on group and room allocation will be given at check-in only.
