Leeds Mission & Ireland 2022

I want to register

Session directing couple

Hello wonderful youth of Leeds and Ireland areas!

Firstly a little about us - we live in Sheffield, and have 5 children, Laura 21 (just returned from her mission in Ecuador, and London), Phoebe and Isobel 18, Poppy 15, and Isaac 10.

We are both very excited to be with you and genuinely we hope that we can help you to have such a wonderful experience at FSY with us, one that will positively impress upon you for the rest of your lives.

It will be our privilege to be with you, to feel of your spirit, faith and testimony as we explore the theme of 2022 from Proverbs 3:5-6 which reads:

“5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

We are very grateful for these principles, to know that our Heavenly Father, our Saviour Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost, completely and unquestionably have our back at all times, are always there for us. We can trust them, always, to help us.

No matter where you feel you are at in your lives, always remember that you are exceptional, and of great worth, and are so loved by Them, far more perhaps than you possibly realise. One of our desires will be for each of us, leaders and youth alike, to help one another to tangibly feel of this love through everything that we share, say and do throughout the FSY week, even if it’s just a little insight in to the eternal power nature of this love.

With love and anticipation of great and fun experiences with you!

Mark and Lucy

Costs and payment

The participant fee for FSY is £75.

This covers food, accommodation and all conference materials (manual, tote bag T-shirt, ...).

According to the number of active youth in a stake, the Area Office retains a portion of the allocated LUBA amount each quarter to help fund FSY conferences.

Youth or their families respectively will only have to pay £75.

This also applies to the youth who are not members of the Church but attend on the invitation of their friends from invited stakes/districts. Those youth are also included in the bus transport.

Youth from other stakes/districts have to organise and pay for their own journeys.
FSY is for all youth in the eligible age group.

We recognise that individual family circumstances will vary and we do not want FSY attendance to present a financial burden to any family or individual regardless of the number of children they have wishing to attend.

Families and individuals should work together with their Bishop to find a solution allowing all youth to attend.

If you need any further help or advice, please contact your FSY Administrators.

£75 for each participant of the invited stakes/districts should be paid into the ward/branch bank account BEFORE THE BISHOP/BRANCH PRESIDENT SIGNS THE REGISTRATION FORM.

Participants, including non-member youth from outside invited stakes, will pay the full amount of £330. The session administrators will contact you about how to do this.

If a participant cancels their registration by 08/07/2022, no cancellation fee will be required.

For cancellations after 08/07/2022 the full fee is payable
(£75 for participants from invited stake, £330 for other participants).

Other Information

Transportation must be arranged for the youth to arrive between 11:00am and 13:00pm on the first day of the conference (Monday 8 August 2022). The specially invited stakes/districts will take care of that and plan accordingly. Youth should not arrive before 11:00am.

If parents take their children to FSY, they should leave the site after saying good-bye to their children at check in.

If participants travel by train, they can be picked up from the station on Monday 8 August 2022 and taken back there on Saturday 13 August 2022. For this shuttle service we need to know the names of the travellers, their exact arrival time at the station (between 11.30 - 12.30 hrs) and their mobile number through e-mail to fsy.templeton@gmail.com by 01/07/2022.

Please plan your return journey for us to take you to the station between 09.30 - 10.30 hrs.
The return journey on Saturday should start between 09.00 and 11.00am. The specially invited stakes/districts will organise transportation by bus accordingly.
All youth must have left by 11.00 am.

Please bring the following things to FSY:

* Smart/Casual/Comfortable Clothes for everyday wear & Tuesday dance

• Sunday Dress clothes for Thursday activities (what you would normally wear for Church on a Sunday)

• Best Dress Clothes for Friday dance????

• Pyjamas

• Waterproof coat in case of adverse weather and sun cream in case of hot weather

• Dress and casual shoes. (Note: Shoes must be worn during dances and all other activities.)

• Personal toiletry items: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, conditioner, tissues, etc.

• Optional: inexpensive camera, materials/instruments for variety show,

• Personal Medications

• Small amount of spending money for incidentals or emergencies.

• There is a small fridge in each room if participants wish to store drinks, snacks or medication etc

• Refillable Water Bottle

• Towels and bed linen are all provided by the University.

• Don't forget Paper Scriptures, For the Strength of Youth pamphlet, Duty to God/Personal Progress books, Preach my Gospel (small or standard size) and pen or pencil.

A key part of FSY is scripture study. Use of mobile phones during any FSY activity is usually not permitted and previously all youth were asked to use paper scriptures.

Youth are now permitted mobiles to study scriptures in any FSY activity requiring scripture study. They are to be asked to only use their mobiles for scripture study in that activity. This would be in place of paper scriptures. They are to be asked that if they feel they will be tempted to use them for something else in the activity they should use paper scriptures.

If a young person is found using their mobile for something else, they will be asked to put their phone away and use paper scriptures.

All young people should still bring paper scriptures to FSY.

Youth who wish to use paper scriptures should not feel any pressure to use their mobiles.
We hope that all youth who wish to use their mobiles for scripture study will be able to do this and use their mobiles appropriately.

Any inappropriate use of a mobile phone or MP3-player during an FSY activity is prohibited. If you feel you cannot deal with this on your own, we advise you to leave them at home. Moreover, portable stereo devices, DVD/CD-players, gaming devices or similar things, bicycles, in-liners or skateboards are not allowed.

Each participant will be allocated to a group of 10-12 youth their own age:

                    • 13-15-year-olds (age on first day of conference)
                         • 16-19-year-olds (age on first day of conference)

Groups at FSY consist of one age group only. The allocation is automatic according to your birth date.

If you turn 16 between 1 May 2022 and 31 December 2022, you may choose for yourself which age group you prefer. Please contact your administrators when you submit your application if you have a preference.

If you want to be in the same group with a friend, you may name one person with your registration on the website. That person needs to be:

                    • the same gender
                    • the same age
                    • you must mutually mention each other with your registration.

Therefore, please co-ordinate this before you register.

This arrangement is non-committal as the groups will be combined from all participating stakes/districts. However, we will try to do our best to accommodate your wishes.

Please consider the allocation of groups and rooms as an opportunity to meet new people. Such friendships may become a lifelong enrichment.

Information on group and room allocation will be given at check-in only.

Each FSY participant is expected to participate in every activity.

                                       Leaving the Venue

For safety reasons participants are not allowed to leave the premises during the FSY week. If parents want to pick up their children before the end of the week, they must make a prior arrangement with the FSY administrators.
